The concept and design approach were based on the Brief and aimed to create a safe, clean and playful environment for a paediatric patient visiting the Centre. The design of creative and stimulating spaces was also a deciding factor in the final solution for the building. The introduction of courtyards, a spacious waiting area and shop-front facades allow for maximum penetration of natural light, high air volumes and sufficient natural ventilation, which will improve the management of infection control. The building envelope and layout is paediatric and visitor friendly and to human scale, accommodating for the masses and catering for the individual.
