A new 488-bed tertiary hospital, Limpopo Central Hospital (LCH), is proposed on a new site in Polokwane to provide the tertiary care for the province and which will be the major teaching hospital for the University of Limpopo Faculty of Health Science and School of Medicine.

The aim is to provide a sustainable building through; creating a facility that is highly energy and water efficient, that protects occupational health and improve employee productivity and by designing a structure with zero or minimum solid waste sent to landfills.
